Course works

Update 19th March 2024

Following the last 5 months of really wet weather, our winter works program has been severely affected. We are now concentrating on preparing the best we can for the forthcoming season start.

Just a bit of notice regarding our proposed work leading up to the Easter weekend.

Sunday and Monday just gone gave us a little restbite from the rain, but Wednesday looks really bad again. However, Thursday-Sunday looks ok and seems fairly windy.

Yesterday we cut all main greens, with Summer tees getting done today. We’ve even started to hand cut some areas. I can assure though, that when we do get out, given we’ve got so much healthy grass, there will be a very quick turnaround.

Our plan next week is this – Week commencing 25th March

Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th
Front 9 of old course open only, to be played twice.
This will allow the team to prepare The Lakes Course as best we can.

Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th
Back 9 of Old Course open only, to be played twice.
This will allow the team to prepare The Dawson Course as best we can.

Friday 29th, Good Friday, both courses open as normal.

Again, this is all hugely weather dependant, and appreciate it’s very late in the day, but conditions have not allowed us to get any further.

I do keep an close watch on other forums and sites, and whilst there seems a big undercurrent of “not favourable” opinion from other clubs from their own members, we really appreciate that the vast majority of our members have been understanding and appreciative of communications etc.

Should our plans change, we will of course keep you informed.

Best

Graham and team

Week commencing 18th September we begin our autumn maintenance. Dawson course is the first to get done. Greens will be areated and top dressed, fairways verti drained and also sprayed to help deter the worms casting moving forward. The Lakes will be carried out week commencing 25th September.

Progress pictures as below.

  1. Great work by the team. Any chance you can remove the dug out tree roots lying on the lakes course next to the 9th tee box. Been there for a little while now. Cheers
