A Haven for Birdlife
The club’s lakes and wetlands are central to its ecosystem, attracting diverse waterfowl year-round.
Mute swans glide in pairs, Canada geese are regular visitors, and coots move among the reeds. These waters provide essential feeding, nesting, and shelter, making them a key sanctuary for birdlife in Northumberland.
Silent Guardians of the Skies
Fairway encounters
Beyond the birds, Longhirst is home to an impressive range of native mammals.
You might catch a flash of movement as a Brown Hare darts across the fairway, or enjoy the rare delight of spotting a Red Squirrel a treasured species in Northumberland’s woodlands. At quieter moments, particularly early morning or evening, the graceful Roe Deer can be seen grazing at the edges of the course.
