website members link update

It appears that the members section link is now activated. As this is a link to a third party, How did I do, it was out of our hands.

Please bare in mind that it must be the email that is registered to the club that you use.

It will then take you through some verification details.

I've just done mine, eventually, and all is in order it seems.

It takes you to the How did I do site that can also be accessed via the app and their website. This was the last line of communication I intended to use, so hopefully from now, everyone should have some platform to receive our updates.

2017 fixtures

Please find below the fixtures for the forthcoming 2017 season.

These will also be displayed from the start of the summer season on all section noticeboards, as well as, handy pocket size cards to pop in your golf bag.

As you will see, it includes all sections.

At the start of each month I will send out an overview reminder of all the following months competitions, then each week, another to explain the formats etc of that weeks events.

Tee times are to be booked as normal, with competition entry fees payable at point of checking in with the shop. Cards will be entered as normal, or put in the box for processing. Any change to this format will be explained in the weekly update, for example special events such as captains day.

Any competition changes will be sent out as and when, along with any fixture updates.

For any players who want to play in the competitions that don't have a playing partner, there will be a notice on the board to put names on so we can get those paired up and playing in the competitions together.

2017 Competition management

Following the past few competition committee meetings, we have been deliberating over the best way in taking forward the competition program, and utilising other media in which to promote them. By using the website, the app and "how did I do", it will enable us to increase participation and get results and handicaps finalised almost immediately. From these discussions, it has been mutually decided to dissolve the current committee operation, and replace it with a club management led working group. I thought it best, for the ease of transition, to ask the existing committee members if they'd like to take part, along with representation from the shop. Should a position become available thereafter, then I will promote it to all members. The existing funds built up will be transferred and used in exactly the same way as in the past, for competition pay out, donations to sections, trophies etc, and will be itemised monthly along with competition income reports. The working group will also look after handicap affairs. More detail will follow in due course, but you can be rest assured that any changes are for the betterment of, and playablity of the competition program, making them ultimately much more streamlined for everyone.

We are also looking at renewing our trophy stock. If you currently have possession of a trophy would you please drop into the club so we can see if it needs replacing.

Happy new year, and great to see so many out on the course over the holiday period.

As you may be aware, we are integrating the competition management through our booking system and "how did I do" for the coming season. The first part of this process is now live, with the introduction of the How did I do app. This is a free download to your smart phone from your relevant app store. From here you will see the results as they happen, handicap changes and news.

The step over the next couple of weeks is to have this integrated into a new "members" section on our existing website.

If you download the app in readiness, which also includes the winter comp results etc, then I will inform you of the going live date for the website members section.

New rules change

New rule from the R and A

“Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1 are modified as follows:
When a player’s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment.
The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1.
This Local Rule applies only when the player’s ball or ball-marker lies on the putting green and any movement is accidental.
Note: If it is determined that a player’s ball on the putting green was moved as a result of wind, water or some other natural cause such as the effects of gravity, the ball must be played as it lies from its new location. A ball-marker moved in such circumstances is replaced."
