It’s been another great week out on the course following last Saturday’s heavy rainfall. While the downpour wasn’t ideal for those playing, it was a real boost for the course itself. Thanks to the team’s preparation ahead of the forecast, the rain has helped bring the course back to life, and conditions are really flourishing as we head into the weekend.
Ahead of the rain, we carried out a number of key processes including aeration, overseeding, wetting agent application, and feeding. These were carefully timed to coincide with the weather and have all paid off, putting us in a strong position moving into autumn.
It’s a welcome change after the challenging and uncontrollable conditions we’ve faced for much of the year. That’s now behind us, and we’re moving forward positively.
On a less positive note, we’ve noticed bunkers with unraked footprints appearing within just 30 minutes of the team completing their work. Please help us keep the course in great condition by raking bunkers and repairing pitchmarks, especially as the greens soften.
Regarding buggy use: as we are aerating tee surrounds and green surrounds, it’s essential that all buggy rules displayed in the buggies are followed. Unfortunately, we’ve seen buggies too close to tees and greens, which hampers the recovery progress. We’ll be taking action where rules are not respected.
Finally, a big congratulations to Charlotte Naughton, who won the World Championships last week before heading to New York for the Junior Ryder Cup. An incredible achievement in just one week—we’ll be celebrating with her on her return.
In the meantime, have a great weekend and enjoy the Ryder Cup!
Best regards,
Graham and the Team
